Jim Busta Band

The Busta Band, previously known as Jim's Concertina Sound and the Jim Busta Band, is the band Mollie B grew up playing in alongside her dad, Jim Busta, and her brother, Chad Busta.  The band started in 1979 by Jim Busta with Jeff Biermann of Farley, Iowa, joining in 1982.

Chad took on the role  of full-time drummer at just  seven years old.  Mollie B began singing  at three years old, started piano  when she was eight years old, and -  by age 11 had joined the band full-time on trumpet.  Over the years, many talented musicians have joined the band - some for a single performance, and others for many years, including Steve Kenny, Karl Hartwich, Mark Heinz, and many others.

Jim Busta led the band through February of 2024.   Since then, Mollie B has taken over booking, managing, and leading the band. Current members include Jeff “Sparky” Biermann, Chad Busta, Mollie B, and Karl Hartwich. The band can often be heard performing live throughout Northeast Iowa in July and August.  Chad's children  also frequently join the band: Kennedy on vocals, Xavier on vocals, and Jayden on vocals and drums.
